I'm trying to decide whether or not to join the National Consumer Panel--that group where they send you the scanner and you scan everything your household buys and then you send them the info 1x/week. It sounds a little time consuming, which i don't mind IF the rewards are ok. I tried to get more info on their website, but the info is sketchy: you get points to redeem for stuff and you are entered to win things each time you send your info. I completely discount the sweepstakes. To me that's just not something you can take to the bank. But, the points could be ok if there are things i use. Does anyone do this? Which merchants can you trade points for? how many points do you accrue? I already "registered" and I just got an email saying they need "households like" mine and want to send me the scanner. I'm not that concerned about this company's legitimacy--i've seen recs from other reputable sites--i just wonder if the points/rewards are good. Any thoughts?
