Default Recent couponing issue at Ulta

Last week when Ulta was having there buy 1 get 50% off another Nivea purchase I went in for some shimmer lip gloss stocking stuffers, (sisters love lotions and shimmer lip gloss) and was using my 3.00 off 2 Nivea lip product coupons to do this. All together I was buying about 20 bucks worth of product and combined with Ulta $3.50 off 10 in store coupon.

When I went through transaction I advised the clerk I was using coupons and even had a copy of the Ulta coupon policy up on my phone but after my manufacturer coupons my total went below $10.00, I was informed I wasn't spending enough to use their in store coupon. When I stated that my manufacturer coupons have no effect towards total spent because there is nothing in their coupon policy stating this.

She called the on duty manager and he was by far the rudest manager I have ever dealt with. I was informed that by doing the transaction wasn't going to happen but no where near that polite. This wouldn't have bothered me if it hadn't been for the fact that when I go to my regular Ulta location (which is 71st and Hwy 75, Tulsa Hills... awesome staff there) and coupon every transaction for the past 6 months I had never had the problem I was having at that moment. I paid full transaction cost and did inform both of them I would be submitting a corporate compliant.

Tonight I received my e-mail back (which I will be print and maintain in my coupon binder). According to Ulta Corporate the in store coupon should have been scanned before the manufacturer coupons and that what I was told was incorrect and they would be sending a notice to the location I went to informing them of how to handle coupons in the future.

I am not a complainer, but the manager and staff members I dealt with last weekend honestly made me feel like I was a lesser consumer because I was using coupons. I like everyone else who coupons believe in being a savvy consumer and will not negate from that. I also hope no one else runs into the disrespect I felt last week.

If anyone would like a copy of my e-mail for their own coupon binders feel free to e-mail me and I will be more then happy to get a copy of it to you.

Best wishes for all in the future and Merry Christmas!!!

I have also had this happen to me, but it was at the Tulsa Hills store. The manager told me that she would only allow me to do it just that one time, and from now on my total would have to be $10 after manufacturer coupons to use their $3.50 off $10 in store coupon. She wasn't very nice about it either. I'm glad you got some clarification. Thanks for letting us all know!
